History
Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC) was founded by Bill Bright in 1951 on the UCLA campus. Mr. Bright felt called to full-time ministry and wanted a strategic way in which to go about it. He felt that college students were a very powerful and influential sector of society that was not being reached as it should. When he started CCC, he had the slogan “Reach the college campus today, reach the world tomorrow.” What he meant was that the most powerful members of any society, whether in commerce or politics, came from college campuses. Thus he set out to evangelize and disciple them alongside the local church. Since then, CCC has a presence in almost every country in the world and has provided the infrastructure for numerous churches to send mission teams for 6 week summer trips, year-long international and domestic assignments, and long-term missions work.
Mission
The mission of Campus Crusade for Christ is to help build spiritual movements everywhere, so that everyone knows someone who truly follows Jesus. Campus Crusade aims to:
- Help students understand how they can begin a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
- Equip students to grow in their relationship with God for a lifetime.
This is accomplished in three ways:
- Reaching students for Christ through group events and personal conversations.
- Building students in their faith through personal discipleship, Bible studies, conferences, retreats, and training in ministry and leadership skills.
- Sending students to classrooms, dorms, organizations, and around the world to reach, build, and send others, wherever God leads them.
